    Guaranteed Anti-Piracy Solution

I am currently offering free consultations for Flash Media Server implementations.

It is a software package that controls your video streaming.

All videos are converted to FLV format and are then streamed to your users using a Flash player. The end result: absolutely no piracy or other copying of your videos. It is impossible to copy the video because no file is saved to the hard disk, and it is impossible to copy the video with a stream ripper.

    The advantages are clear:
-excellent video quality with a major reduction in bandwidth usage
-true streaming video (users can jump to any part of the video without having to wait for the video to load)
-proprietary format and unique memory buffer prevents the video data from being recorded to the hard drive and prevents all stream rippers from working
-fully scalable function makes it easy to add additional servers as needed
-seamless operation regardless of the number of servers. No longer is there a need to manually store your videos across different servers. Flash Media Server automatically copies the videos across servers based upon their demand. When you add a video, you add it to the "Media Server", so you no longer have to pick a specific server and link your player to it.

Probably one of the most important posts on GFY in ages, and nobody cares to read the thread or post in it.

      Really good stuff.

(PS: I have no experience with Flash Media Server but I can make flash video player being able to jump to any part of the video without expensive flash media server. Ideal for smaller sites or for the lower budget sites like smaller tube sites or flv promo stuff for programs)

I was thinking the same thing. Although I doubt hardly anyone would go to that trouble sense everyone probably won't use this protection on their sites.

Adobe Flash media server, and also Wowza Media Server both do this. since both do real streams they prevent the entire video being downloaded unless of course someone has some sort of a capture utility that can record a stream.

This isn't new technology we've been doing this for over a year for people and adobe flash media has been around longer than that.

The technology is something called RTMPE and it actually is available from any provider who is offering the latest flash streaming protocols. We have been offering at Cavecreek for some time and you can view samples of it on the Cave Creek CDN page.

                          adobe flash media = 4kish

Just make sure you have a filer with enough fast disks to support the concurrent streams that you want, its HELL on disk IO.

a 4x whatever drive 15k sas system will support about 200Mbps in raid 5, 400ish in raid10/0 and support about 500-600 streams if you have more spindles you can use more bw and more streams.

While I agree, you could also say the same things about the locks on your front door. If someone wants to break in, they can just kick your door in.

You'll never stop piracy, but you have to make it so the average guy doesn't know how to do it or doesn't feel like going through the hassle.

I think streaming is a REAL solution. There will be some pain during the transition, but in the end it will be worth it.

To the topic creator, it would be nice you put up a website with details, price points, ect. Things like hardware requirements, different costs depending on the number of members and things like that.

The object is not to completely prevent theft that is impossible. The idea is to make it hard enough that it is not worth the time time and effort or is just to difficult for your average user.

One of the top reasons surfers buy memberships and stay members is they are not afraid that they cannot see the videos when their membership expires... When you tell them stream only they don't even buy.

This will never ever change because someone like Brazzers will ALWAYS offer downloads with no DRM!

You can offer DRM downloads, un-restricted, that still can be shut off, if uploaded or have promos/signup offers appear. The single VOD sites dwarf an entire affiliate program, the biggest of them.

Come on VRocks, I figured you would be way on top of this income stream more.

Can't record the screen with a good enough quality on most computers. You will end up with a terrible frame rate.

This will never ever change because someone like Brazzers will ALWAYS offer downloads with no DRM!
Brazzers is very good at enforcing their copyrights. They do it in 2 ways:
-DMCA the hell out of anybody who posts their videos
-Partner with illegal tube sites who become their affiliates. Illegal tube sites don't want to lose a major revenue source, so they make sure that nobody uploads Brazzers content. Tube sites continue to function with your content next to Brazzers ads.

I suggest that you offer streaming video and then only allow people to download video after they have had a membership for 3 months or something. Most people who sign up in order to pirate your content will be gone by then.

                                                        I love this complaint -

                                                        1. 99% of your surfers will not bother.
                                                        2. The current solution of doing nothing is not working.
                                                        3. It is just that much easier to prove copyright infringement if they did that.

                                                        4. the first sites to do this might have exclusive content a lot longer then other sites and thus a competitive advantage

I bought Adobe Flash Server a couple of months ago and started streaming h264's with rtmpe encryption. Every new update that I put up since that time has remained EXCLUSIVE to our members area. Just like it's supposed to. And to make it that much sweeter...we are now seeing a rise in sales. Turns out that when you have an exclusive solo girl site and you shoot your own stuff...the fans of the site want to see the newest updates and if they can't find it on a tube 1 hour after you release it...they join. Also helps that we have a dynamic tour that reflects the members area updates as they happen. It's a nice "one-two" punch
