Scanning mags for paysites - good or bad?

Over the years a LOT of people have used mag scans on their websites for profit, and although we don't scan mags ourselves...I've always been curious what everyone thinks about the practice of mag scanning to make content for commercial paysites.

I still see people these days discussing mag scans as though it were a perfectly acceptable practice - despite the copyright issues, sometimes going so far as to justify it by saying the work involved somehow negates the copyright protections.

    Wondering what everyone thinks.

I doubt any serious paysite owners are involved in this practice. Maybe back in 1997...

I am sure Playboy, the owners of the board, would have views on it.

Is there even any doubt? Unless you like to get sued then why even think about it?
