QTbucks_Mark, I currently pay $500 in server fees for the 3 servers and then 14 cents per gig. My script people are a reseller through the host, so I get the hosting, then unlimited scripts for my sites, so it works out.
So I assume you don't want to change hosts...
I was asking because I'm currently preparing hosting-, housing- and bandwidth plans together with my ISP to introduce a adult-oriented line of products, optimized for high-bandwidth customers.
We're currently aiming at a price range as low as $ 100 per TB (10 cent per gig) while providing high-quality systems for sites to run on. Still looking for input on what's really important for adult-customers, so I'll probably start a few threads during the next days too...
So, anybody interested in taking influence on what they'd like to see in future hosting plans - fell free to hit me up.
i believe your ohtele guys are resellers of openhosting.co.uk if not they just co-locate inside them...and they claim to use a blackdiamond 6800 for a edge router.. they are great for static switching.. but seriously suck at bgp and can't handle much traffic.. 500mbps of bgp on a BD would bring it to its knees...
see sig
openhosting.co.uk = ohtele (oh stands for openhosting).
42 servers online spread across 3 different network data centers I've come to trust explicitly.
30 of the servers are 1U-2U servers I built myself so I'm only paying for bandwidth on those. The other dozen server hardware is all leased. So 42 servers with about 300mbps per month average bandwidth.
Bottom line: Below $5k/m. It's good to have friends in the right places.
I myself only use 5 / 42 servers though - the 37 of the other servers I lease out to clients.
this thread is useless without correlating profit numbers on the server costs ...I spend about $800 a month on servers and make a profit of about $20,000/month with those servers.
