I thought how can I bitch about others and do it myself. So I dont, I buy whatever I want. I will admit it can be tempting but if I dont like others taking my work and I cant do that to others.
If I want a game I buy it and if I want a movie I will buy it and watch it in HD. But where would I ever find stuff like the brilliant documentary magical egypt? (which I later bought when dvd was released).
Yes, I pirate all the time. And no, I'm not a hypocrite.
I don't think that those who pirate my stuff are doing something "bad" - I just realize that it has the potential to hurt my business. The problem with piracy isn't that it's immoral, it's that it can cost us business.

So, as long as we can justify it to ourselves, we can do as we wish?

I pirate too but my gf buy cd of music she like so our house is half pirate
your canadian, we pay a piracy tax on media to compensate the content providers for piracy and the supreme court has ruled that makes our "illegal" downloads legal.

That is a solution I would like to know more about.
courts actually extended the oppinion of the board to legitimize uploading as well. Since the tax granted the right to canadians no matter where they may be downloading from (when i am in the states i still have the right i paid for) it is impossible to block potential offenders without blocking potential liciened users.
I posted a link to the news article about the supreme court ruling in other threads when i talked about the piracy tax.
