The time he spent arguing with me was time he could have helped me. It is probably a 5 minute solution. Nothing wrong with stepping off the reservation to help a client.
I am sure that in this competitive economy, you would spend 5 or 10 minutes to try to help one of your clients if the problem was peripherally related.
