With all these illegal tubes...

What is the liability for the companies that advertise to contribute to these illegal sites? If you cut out the advertising on these sites, 95% of them would die.

The liability is pretty damn high. Thats why it's good to publically out illegal tube sites so they (the advertisers) cant claim ignorance. Thats where were headed.. I see a cash cow there. Might cost a few mill, but the returns would be 3 times that.

Well, I think in the next few months you are going to see a few put their cash together and form a RIAA for porn sites. Of course this is going to cost a few hundred thousand but in the long run they will make their money back.

how about subpoena the sites to give up the IP's of uploaders and sue those

if it is the tube site admins doing the uploading that could get interesting

Why do you think I am angry? I have always hated spammers. I hate being spammed and report it when I can.

How is trying to shut down illegal tube sites screwing everybody? Go sell your sig dude.

Everyone can laugh, but I think something like this is going to happen. Just like what Duke said, it's going to be expensive but it will and should happen.

It will get the ball moving, and maybe the first few targets could be smart, so people "might" get paid. But that will quickly run out, costing the companies a lot more than 100k to fight.

Anyone putting in 50, 100, 500k, will never make a dime of that back and they will not slow down what has been happening since day one. So they will spend the money, with no direct results, and still have a failing business when they are done.

It would be a WAY SMARTER business decision if you spent that money on protecting your content, changing your formats, not allowing downloads and then actually, legally copyrighting your content.

also, for 100k anyone can populate a tube site with legit content...

some of the larger tubes are already slowly doing this...

I don't see it that way at all, I think they will rightly report that it is people that are "sharing" their movies on porn site equivalents to youtube

they aren't that stupid, when napster was in the news they didn't report that people were getting sued for listening, only people that were sharing

any news coverage like that would be great as it would scare alot of people away from porn torrents and rapidshare forums, and would also have an effect on the illegal tube site owners

surfers also need the overall stigma of potential of being caught when it comes to anything with the file stealing sites..... the surfer is not stupid, they know the difference between a legit paysite and a thief site.... they need to be worried about participating in the thieving sites, they need to be scared shitless of opening a porn torrent...
