Tico is the word that Costa Rican's call themselves. It's not meant to be derogatory really.

What's funny is watching a bunch if Ticos sitting around saying "Fucking Nicas this, fucking nicas that". They tend to get upset when you point out that from where you're sitting, they're all poor Latinos, but atleast Nicas work.
