It makes a girl look more complete. Hair, makeup and nails. I do not like it when a girl is obviously trying and has not done the nails. Why stop there? And long without being too long is feminine. I hate fake nails too and how ubiquitous they are in porn (and I've *never* had fake nails), but did any guy ever tell you he decides what porn to buy based on what current fashion trends are? Anyway, those are here today, gone tomorrow . . . what lasts are fetishes built on familiarity and memories of chicks who've turned them on. As for fake nails... straight men don't even notice the difference between real and fake nails. We don't look at nails. We look at boobs and asses. With those, we usually prefer real, though.
