I can't speak for everyone, but for those of us with recurring involvement in trade shows, most of the events are not presented as profit vehicles. I would guess that 90% of the annual events are staged as investments in networking and future business, and after the hosts calculate the all-in, the ROI is in relationship-building and expectation of future business. Most of the hosts have the goal of breaking even on the event itself; whatever the size of the event.

A first annual show at this point has just that one opportunity to succeed. I hope the Atlanta Forum organizers present a stellar new event that breaks new ground and raises the bar once again for all the others...
