I still hang with the same guys i hung with in high school. Of course i've met cool people along the way but they fall into the tier 2 and tier 3 friends. Sometimes a tier 2 friend can make it to tier one (and it has happened once or twice) but a tier 3 friend never get's to tier one. Tier one friends get gifts and drinks on xmas and birthdays. Tier 2 friends might get taken out for drinks on their birthday. Tier 3 friends might get a call on their birthday if i remember.
There is a group of about 6 of us. But it's wierd because some guys in the group are closer than other guys in the group but we all still love each other the same. Of course we've had our differences, almost fought, didn't talk for a few weeks, but at the end of the day we're still boys to the death. All any of us has to do is make a phone call.
The thing about best friends is that it's easy when you are young because you all do the same shit and dont really think for yourself that much. However; as you start to get older you notice how different you and what you thought was your best friend are. It is at that point you know if you guys are really best friends or convenient friends. I've learned to accept all of my boys for their short comings as i have them to. I let them be them and love them for who they are. That's what friendship is all about.
