The point I'm making is China doesn't have the monopoly on extreme poverty. Nearly every major urban centre has its ghetto and impoverished areas - often in stark contrast to the adjacent opulence and comparative wealthy neighbourhoods.
It wouldn't be difficult to sandwich two shots of Vancouver, Can. together depicting the homeless and drug addicts in ghetto areas in contrast to the winter Olympic venues they've been preparing.

Born and raised in the USA, I have seen a fair share of US ghettos and poverty. I can say without question, that the poverty in parts of Africa and parts of Asia are the worst anyone has ever seen. It really is MUCH worse than anything I have ever seen in the USA.
