Good that's what fucking happens when cops kill innocent people.
MONTREAL ? Cars were set on fire, propane tanks exploded and stores were vandalized in a Montreal neighbourhood late Sunday night as violence erupted following the shooting of a young man by police a day earlier.
Hundreds of police officers were called to the scene as youths filled streets in the north of the city and fires were set at various intersections.
A police officer was reportedly shot in the leg amid the chaos and a police helicopter was dispatched to monitor the scene from above.
There was also a report that a cameraman had suffered minor injuries in the altercations.
On Saturday, a police patrol in a nearby Montreal park turned ugly when an officer opened fire on three young people, killing one man and wounding two others.
An 18-year-old man, identified by his sister as Freddy Alberto Villanueva, died from his wounds in hospital.
The other two, an 18-and a 20-year-old, were reportedly in stable condition.
Montreal police say the officers were trying to arrest an individual during a routine police intervention in Henri Bourassa Park in the Montreal district of Montreal North when they were surrounded by a group of about 20 youths.
A few individuals allegedly broke away from the group and rushed the officers.
According to police, it was then that one of the officers opened fire.
The officers were not wounded in the Saturday incident.
Quebec provincial police were interviewing witnesses.
"We do think there are many witnesses, because at that time, around 7 p.m., there were a lot of people in the park or in the surroundings of the park," said Quebec provincial police spokesman Gregory Gomez del Prado.
"There were also people who were part of the altercation, and many people playing sports or just sitting in the park," he said.
"It's too early to say what happened exactly. We're talking about the death of a man. It's a major investigation."
Villanueva's sister, Julissa, said in an interview from nearby Laval that the family wanted answers.
"We only know what we see in the news, in the newspapers, that's all," she said, breaking into tears as she spoke about her brother, a student who wanted become a mechanic.

what were the cops supposed to do? give them blowjobs?
Funny... I went by riot police on the way to a party when I was in Montreal sometime around March. I thought to myself, "Wow... they have riot police in Montreal?" It seems like such a small, quiet city...
I think it's a great idea giving cops the ability to act as judge, jury and executioner! Just think of the money and time that could be saved if everyone who broke the law got shot! No more jay walking no more driving without a seatbelt, are cities would be so safe.

Although all this killing and BS is not necessary I agree with you 100%, being a cop ain't an easy job I'm sure.
At the end of the day I'm #1, my life is more important then anything... so yeah if you surround me with your gang and threaten me and I have a gun, I will defend/protect myself no matter what...

No, it's much better for the police to get hurt by gangs while doing their job.
Look, they surrounded the cops and rushed towards them. If someone threatens the life of a police officer, they have permission to shoot. They have no option of shooting at someone's legs, when they do shoot they HAVE to shoot to permanently disable the target.
That's fucked up......my dad lives in Montreal-North!

It always pisses me right the fuck off when I hear about fucking morons rioting like that. One kid gets shot by a cop, so go out start fires, destroy cars and property of other people that had nothing to do with it, including hurting medics, OTHER police officers, and firefighters that had NOTHING to with it, as well as looting businesses, fucking up the financial lives of people that are trying to make an honest living.
I think that every single one of those idiots that are part of the riot should take a bullet to the head. I'm sure none of them could actually give a fuck about the person that was killed.

100% correct!
Of course they don't give a shit about the person who was killed. These people just look for the first excuse to go on the rampage, and take it.
My brother is a cop, if something like that happened here, should be now be targetted when it actually has nothing to do with him? I doubt the ones who were shot at were "innocent"...

i guess most of the posters in this thread have never heard of the concept of self defense. if i was about to get attacked by 20 kids at the same time you can bet your ass i would put a bullet in one of their heads before taking a beatdown. im sure society is better off without them.
Same ole shit from the same ole sheepish morons that caused problems during the 'ockey playoffs: One a-hole starts shit and the rest of the mindless drones join in.
the kid was playing dice.. you dont shoot the kid cause he walked up towards you... like wtf?
if i ever got shot by a cop because tried to talk to him. i would hope that the entire of montreal put prices on the heads of the cops that shot me
Jesus christ, i just can't beleive that i just red this shit
Yep, seal Montréal au plus crisse !
Yeah go ahead, steal everything from everyone, burn everything and do worst things then that and then, when a policeman comes up to ya saying; "Hummmm like WTF are you doing there bud" just attack him.
Now don't come whine and bitch about your city becoming a peice a shit ! I'm glad i took off 100 years ago.

How should the police react when they get rushed by a crowd ? Say "excuse me, can we talk for a second?"
If the "innocent" youths hadn't been acting like assholes, nobody would have been shot at in the first place...

Bullshit. What are the cops supposed to do, offer a sandwich?
Mase, taser, aim for the leg, etc. There is no real confirmation on what happened. At this point all we have is what the cops have said happened. Why did three unarmed guys "rush" this cop? Thats what I would like to know.
you don't know you're wearing a leash if you sit by the peg all day..
i was reading an article from the montreal gazette and it does not mention that the cop tried to arrest him right away.. it states the kids were hanging out and the cops went towards them screaming and yelling and the kids tried to get the cops to calm down but ended up getting shot
and in the news they said people saw the kids walking slowly to the cops, not running towards them like dirty animals that live in montreal north

Yeah, the natural reaction (as evident by the reactions in this thread) is to believe whatever the cops allege. At this point, it's just unsubstantiated allegations. It wouldn't be the first time that eye witnesses (those directly involved as well as 3rd parties who happened to be in the vicinity) and camcorders have a far different account of what happened than the cops.

Police officers patrolling Mtl North deal with these gangs daily. It is no secret that Mtl north s divided and ruled by street gangs. for an officer to draw his gun he must feel in danger. a person rushing for a drawn gun is just as dangerious as a person with a drawn gun. Iehter way the same result will occur.
