Aire3k, this is off topic, but I was bored and searched gfy for "sunset blvd" and I found a post you made a long time ago about the Standard club there... I was wondering if it's hard for non-celebrities to get in there or do you need to have a hook up to get in? I saw a Ferrari parked in front and was kind of intimidated...
Since your a DJ do you know Brent Bolthouse's parties, and how can regular non celeb people get in?
What about places like LAX, Priviledge, Mood? Is it hard to get in there? What about the bar at the Roosevelt hotel or the Tropicana?

well, the l.a. scene is slightly more difficult to maneuver than the san diego scene. being in the adult business will generally help you out right off. there are many gfyers here that patrol the L.A. circuit still that i am sure would be willing to show you the ropes and introduce you to the right people.Originally posted by rants

Another thing. L.A. is all about who you know. Hang out with the people who are in those scenes and you're in. Most places in L.A. don't care about getting a 50 spot here and there as they do about the clientele in their clubs. You can grease door guys, but how long do you really wanna do that?Comment

i don't think you'll have a problem. mingling with people is the key. get to know some locals in some of the spots that are not those high profile nights like saturday night spots. go to some hot wednesday and thursday places. people who frequent those impossible to get into spots are out 4-5 nights a week. the lower key spots on tues wed thur are easier to see who are the locals and what not. if worse comes to worse, use one of those airtight stories, tell the bouncer you were this and that in another city, slip him a 50 or hundie. the promoter of the club is your best way in though. email them from their website and build a rapport. club promoters love porn and the element it brings to clubs. clubs are about sex. if a club promoter knows that they can possibly have some more porn stars around sometime in the future they will love you. tell him you want to meet up with him and buy him a drink. even though promoters have free drinks, just offer it. shit, if i was there, i'd go with you. its been a good 11 months since i have been out of l.a. that scene changes so rapidly, its hard to say who's running what still.Originally posted by rants
