Anyways, so you all Poo Pood my idea. I may still do it anyways, but I think I will also launch a 100% recurring program at the same time and see which does better.
I payout 100% of the signup and each rebill, and I keep all the upsells and other goodies. Surely the upsells can pay for hosting and content costs, couldn't they?
If you don't think that will work I would like to see you guys come up with something better.

Mine would be a $39 program at 100% recurring or $40 a signup and 50% recurring.

I was trying to be conservative, that's all. I have no problem selling memberships at $39 a month, anything more than that my ratios drop like a stone.
As far as 50% goes, I was pulling it out of my ass cause it sounded good, but 75% may work too. This is the part I am not sure about, what % recur to give away.
Wouldn't you operate at a loss for a year to gain 10,000 webmasters? And if the program still wan't turning a profit, you could always phase it into something different?

Indigo... I agree that many programs shave heavily, but adjusting trial prices & recurring prices etc really does make it quite possible to pay 30-40 per signup :-)

First off --
People in adult make money. They don't wait a year to become profitable, they don't do the dopy things that mainstream does, unless they want to end up like Hanco.
People who run programs, highly successful ones, come to this thread and waste their time trying to help someone see the light and understand how this business works.
Maybe teaching them the best way to flip a burger without getting carpal tunnel syndrome is the answer.Comment

That's not true. there are alot of people operating businesses that lose money, and have become profitable. I know of AVS's that have done this, I know a handful of member sites that were in the red for months before they started making money.
Are you telling me you have never invested money in a business venture??
I have done this several times, and all but 1 time I have come out ahead.
I started this post to see what people thought of my idea, and hoping to see what people wanted from a new affiliate program. This is why I keep on trying to back up my idea. I want feedback, and I have gotten plenty of it. Mission accomplished.
