The nightly news is full of stories where the professional "helpers" arrive too late to save a victim.

What then?

Often times a good samaritan steps forward and does what he/she feels needs to be done.

Its called humanity.

I'm not necessarily saying I'd have leaped to the defense of the victim on the Greyhound bus - and I'm not faulting the other passengers who didn't either. I wasn't there and weren't in their shoes at the time. But I know my mind would be racing with thoughts of how to help...and whether I'd act would depend on the circumstances and logistics of the situation.
