Used to be like .48c a gallon here, when we had gallons.
When Canada switched over to Metric gas was like .24c per litre. When I started driving it was less than 40c/litre.... I used to put $5-worth in the tank, drive around the city to parties all night, drive everyone home and still have gas in the tank.
Brandon I'm 40. I remember back in 1988 when me and the wife was living in Lubbock TX there was a gas station down the street from us and they had like a week special where gas was 69 cents a gallon.

When I first started driving was in '77 when I was 15 y/o - amazing, huh? And I recall "regular-leaded" was like 30 cents or so, and it was big deal to go to the Sunoco station, as they had like 5 grades of gas you could get up to 93 octane, and it was like 68 cents a gallon for that. I had a '67 Impala @ the time, and loved to once every couple of weeks fill it up w/ the "pricey" higher octane gas!
:P
actually if you want to include sale prices, some gas stations were having some kind of promotional sale about 7 or 8 years ago, I think one of them was down to like $0.05/gallon one day (although they limited the amount of gas that could be bought to very little)
Here's an interesting chart http://zfacts.com/p/35.html
Iraq one way or another was responsible most of the drastic spikes over the past 35 years...
I remember getting lawnmower gas for 39 cents a gallon around 8 (I'm 44).
When I was even younger my mom would fill the car up for 2 bucks and some change
i remember 39 cents per litre about 10 years ago in vancouver, there was a gas war one summer and there were really low prices. thats what a buck fifty a gallon?
when I was 17 and in high school I had a part time job at a small convience store/gas station and I pumped gas most of the time. I remeber when gas when from 95cents a gallon to $1.00 and listening to the people buying it you would think the world was coming to an end.
Do you remember "gas wars?" There would be a gas station on all 4 corners of an intersection and they would keep lowering prices trying to out-do the other guy.
I think .19 or .20 was the cheapest I ever paid. I used to be able to fill up my dirtbike for about a quarter. Now I spend $15+ to fill up my Harley! Never thought I would see that day.

Yes. Once when I was traveling I went through a town in Texas that was having a gas war. I paid .15 cents but learned that further down town I could have paid .13 cents.
back in my day... we didn't have gas, we had to walk FIFTEEN miles up FIFTEEN different hills FIFTEEN minutes out of the way, just to walk a FIFTEEN year old girl to school that we liked, just to find out shes a lesbian who is fucking FIFTEEN different girls...
I'm 43 so I remember gas at 45 cents when I was a kid. Interestingly though, gas now is actually cheaper than it used to be, when adjusted for inflation.
If you account for, and adjust for, inflation, gas today is 67 cents a gallon cheaper than it was in 1922, and 69 cents a gallon cheaper than it was in 1981.
funny, huh?

And I still remember when Canada switched to metric and how one independent gas station on Hwy 48 (north of Toronto) protested the change and continued selling in gallons for a while. We used to get gas there every morning on the commute into the city from Lake Simcoe.
My allowance was $.50 per week and I could use that to buy a single gallon of gas for my dirt bike and ride all week. By the time I was 16 and got my own car it was a little bit more.
I had a Mustang that would pass anything on the road but a gas station.
gas is the way to how high can it go b4 the bubble bursts or we find a workable renewable energy alternative? :D
Amen to that, I can only put the high octane gas in my car and it's 4.12, fuck that. Thank god for working from home or I'd be screwed. Owned my Z since 2004 and it only has 10k miles on it, I can't imagine having to commute.

.90 a gallon back in the early 90s.

I could only imagine it elsewhere in the country.
