Buzzy my friend Iran is primarily a threat to the Sunni powers in the region like Saudi Arabia. If Iran goes nuclear then the Saudis will have no choice but to reciprocate (they are already seeking the technology from the US). Syria is also likely to get the technology from the Iranians. Essentially what you will see is a nuclear arms race right in the middle of the most politically unstable region on Earth.

The US will not be within range of Iranian missiles but the Middle East, Russia, Central Asia and Europe will be. This is much more a regional problem then a US problem. If the world is lucky the Israelis will bite the bullet and attack Iran's nuclear sites before Iran has its weapons program fully operational. Otherwise you should hold on for a real bumpy ride as the whole Middle East goes nuclear.
