Both my sites are with them (see sig), and even though i used a coupon to get $97 off (coupon: GOFUCKYOURSELF), frankly i've found their uptime to be quite shoddy and the speed isn't exactly great either.

I'm thinking of moving to Tear2Host. Just remember: you get what you pay for.

It all depends...I guess it will be ok for you only if you do not have a over 5K uniques with tgp site. They wont shut your site but you'll have limited connection on your account,but first get to 5K uniques.

newbie question

Ok, I new here, and haven't actually gotten going with my site yet, but here's stupid question, why not use someone like godaddy.com? I asked them and they said they don't descriminate against adult hosting? Am I missing something?

I've been using dreamhost for 1 month, with no real problem. Of course it is shared hosting and I would ONLY recommend it to rookies webmasters. It's cheap, you get what you pay for.

Their support team is fast to answer(i used it twice and they answered in less than one hour).

They have a great wiki and easy auto-installer which is good for server newbies.

As for the uptime on the server I am on:

13:22:22 up 7 days, 7:27, last uptime was around 50 days.

I have a cheapo dreamhost site for a site I made for my daughter. We're talkin' 3 pages and a photo gallery (Gallery2). And it's Slooooooooooooooow. It's because your site will be on a box with about 500 other sites. But I really haven't had a problem with downtime.

But like others have said, You get what you pay for.
