too many people see it now as a way an excuse to beat on people and molest girls. its not like it once was. after the time i got kicked in the face 3 times and my glasses stepped on, that was it for me.
you don't know you're wearing a leash if you sit by the peg all day..
Fun as a teenager.. you can only get kicked in the head so many times by crowd surfers with boots though before you feel like punching them so hard your fist collects kidney juice everytime they go over head.
I'd prefer to actually enjoy the shows these days without bleeding or bruises.. hehe.. one of the worst i've seen though was a ministry gig.. so many bleeding people.. hahaha fucking HIV nightmare.
lol what i do now is when someone is crowd surfering over my way ( i really hate crowd surfers, i have to constantly turn my head to watch for them to avoid a boot in the head) but anyways. i make it look like i'll help carry them over and then let them fall to the cement. stupid fucks

used to heaps when i was younger, but now tend to stand back and just enjoy the show... will get into them at warped tours and big events.... Lagwagon coming up next week, so will probably get stuck into it then.
Godsmack & Metallica...November 2004 in Houston. Had general admission on the floor...it didn't matter where I stood, a mosh pit kept breaking out around me...even when I was up against the railing at the stage. It was fucking crazy.
It seems to act as a right of passage for some...there were guys -- and some gals -- of every size and the runts seemed to have the worst attitudes. They sought out the biggest guys there and slammed them. One little shit got knocked the fuck out but was back 20 minutes later in the mix.
It was also interesting to observe how one minute they were killing each other and the next they were protecting one another. If someone went to the floor he was picked up quickly so he wouldn't get crushed.
I was in one, Some guy thought it was funny to start punching people in the face, he punched my brother in the jaw and did another circle around the pit and was about to come back to us for seconds.
He ended up inciting a riot just before he got back to us about 15 people just lunged at him and starting pounding his ass I guess they were protecting the crowd or something, I've never seen someone get so fucked up.
I used to live in the pit in my concert going days... Took a break for a few years and then went to see NOFX last year, and man am I getting old. I was out of breath after the first 2 songs (the mickey of rum didn't help either).
yep....ICP..... full blown moshing...good thing me and my bigger friend were the biggest guys there....we were a nice wall....chicks hid by us....people drinking hid by us.....anyone that wanted protection from one thing or another hid by us :P
My other friend that made it up on stage to dive ended up with a broken knee
i've been to so many fucking shows. mosh pits? i'll say at the least, 40 of them
i bet half the people in this thread have been to a Creed or Blink182 and got in the mosh pit and think it was some hardcore shit and they are mr. or mrs. badass.
Here's a shot i took at a swingin' utters show. there was this huge guy that kept stage diving the pit.... hurting people due to his mass. they eventually tired of his shit... cheered him up on stage again to jump then stepped aside when he jumped. he didn't do it again... LMAO
At my very first rock concert, *Story of The Year* I got sucked into the mosh pit, some guy elbowed me in the head, I woke up at U.C Davis hospital like an hour later. I sat through 3 other bands that suck!!!!! Just to be knocked out during the first 30 seconds of STOY's first song. I'm sticking to country music now...it's safer
Back in my day (I love starting stories like that...) we did not call them "mosh pits." Indeed, there was no such thing as "moshing." We slammed and there were pits or slam pits and we also did a thing called "skanking." And yes, I have been in them, but nowadays I doubt I'd be able to keep up because I'd be riding my Rascal. Or at least that's how I feel when I take my kids to punk shows and look at all the babies running around "moshing."
I've been in and on the fringes of pits for Bad Religion, NOFX, Face to Face, Pennywise, Chillipeppers, all the Lollapaloozas, Warped tours, Faith No More, L7 (LOL!!!), GWAR, Nirvana, Sick of it all, Rancid...you name it.
I've come home plenty of times with bootprints on my face, gotten kicked in the head, squashed, stepped on, crowd surfed, and it'd do it all again thanks to many of the kinds of guys here - protecting the chicks and keeping it real.
You guys rock! Thanks for allowing the cool chicks to have some good times without getting beat the fuck up
I was in a Suicidal Tendencies pit a long time ago and lost my damn shoe...after that, I always worse boots to the shows. Nothing like losiong your damn shoe and watching it go sailing over the crowd later in the evening.
Worst pit injury was during a Testament show when Chuck Billy did a backflip into the audience and I looked up to see him coming down on me about 4-5 others...he's one big dude.
I've eaten a lot of concrete over the years too and remember the bruises up and down my arms and legs. I'm too old for that shit now though, but I still have the memories.
hahaha
I can't beleive I've seen that pic again from the girl with the broken pants !
Mosh pits rocks
