best way to clone/copy/backup a drive?

    Under windows 2000...

Different drives make/models here, though the sizes are the same. I just need to make a backup of all the stuff on one to the other. When I use select all & copy I run into sharing violations.

    Ghost?

    Norton Ghost of course.
I bought a dog the other day... I named him Stay. It's fun to call him... "Come here, Stay! Come here, Stay!" He went insane. Now he just ignores me and keeps typing.

Well I want to make a working mirror... to where if the main drive was ran over by a truck, I could just pop in the "backup" drive & be ready to go from where I backed up. does ghost do this?

Even though the drives are NOT THE SAME make/model?

Nono.. I'm just trying to make a copy of this drive (on another drive). Then I am going to install XP on to it (the first) because it is the faster of the two drives. Both are 40gigs.

I think ghost makes images of drives and stuff. I just want like a raw copy or something.
