                                      I bought my wife a Piaggio for Xmas a year and a half ago. It's not as fast as we would like but pretty fun to ride.

                                              Then i bought the newer version in 1999 and she reached easily 70 mph , pretty fast for a scooter.

                                              so they are not really slow if you compare them to other scooters, one thing is for sure:

                                              they are the coolest and most reliable mechanically wise.

                                                          I had a Yamaha moped when I was around 17 through 20. Got me to work daily, and was pretty damn fun to putt around the backroads. It got like 80 miles per gallon too.
                                                          Just couldnt take it on the freeways. And it was absolutely impossible to look cool on it.
