I've heard of S. African violence. That's an odd situation because those people were occupied by such a violent and racist government for so long. It really is a complicated situation. Illegal Mexican labor is what has kept the US economy going the last 10 years while the construction explosion took advantage of the cheap labor to maintain margins in the real estate boom.

But now real estate's tanking, construction's even worse off and nobody needs 'em any more. So they're turning to their only other option...crime. It's not like they're going to go home. Ha!

I was really excited when I heard that Mexico was going to legalize posession of drugs like Amsterdam does. It was a damn shame to learn later that it was purely a political move by Fox to have something to hold over the US. He knew that was a lightning rod issue to the US and that he'd gain an incredible tourist market if the law passed. At the last minute, he flip flopped when the US no doubt did some sort of bidding for him.

Mexico is fucked up because of it's social infrastructure. Ruling families who are a bunch of racist assholes who beat down on the native Mexican people. Fox and the other central american countries know that if the heroin trade and prostitution trade gets cut off the U.S. government will panic. Not only does he have drugs to hold over the U.S. he has countless counts of child abuse done by Americans and especially affluent and politically powerful Americans. This is no joke. I have many friends and family who work in various states who are professionals in the child welfare system. The stories they tell me of abuse are so horrific it's unfathomable. What's worse is the Mexican government has these cases too. Americans going down there to abuse kids. It's a massive extortion problem and if Mexico doesn't get it's way they'll start ratting.

Mexico supports illegal immigration to the US because the money that is sent back to Mexico by these people is a HUGE revenue source for the Mexican economy.
