I like how some people think we have to protect surfers from themselves and that surfers are concered with the wellbeing of webmasters and the business health of the sponsor program. laughable.
I don't like that this is the way things are, but this is the way things are.
You can't sit on your soapbox and complain while the competition puts you out of business.
Do you really think if a company like Siccash came out and said "we love the surfer and we care greatly about the future stability of this business, so we're getting rid of ALL cross sales, upsells, consoles, and emailing of former and current members, and by the way, to accomplish this we're lowering payouts to $20 per signup.....$25 for whales"
If they said that they would go under within months. Everyone would send their traffic elsewhere because for every guy who comes out here and complains there are 99 guys who just want the higher payout and could give a fuck what else happens.

Ah Python, but you excel at screwing surfers AND webmasters! Keep up the good work, spamalamadingdong.

Wouldn't expect any other type of comment from Python...
They do that to pay your dumb ass 40 bucks a sale. If webmasters care about their surfers, they will simply send traffic to console-free, no-cross-sale join pages.
Money talks homey. Don't send your traffic there if you don't like it.
maybe they should work on the members area instead of trying to rip off horny surfers using one hand...

What, that we are more concerned with running a proftable operation so we can stay in business and pay our webmasters than squabbling over the perceived ethical implications of a pre-checked xsell?
Let's keep this on topic and talk about pre-checked xsells (and this reply is not just to you but to the others who are debating the xsell issue).
Its been said in this thread already - surfers are NOT braindead morons and every single one of them has ample opportunity to un-check the xsell.
In fact, I know the exact %age on a daily basis of surfers that uncheck the xsells - and I can tell you that the VAST MAJORITY of subscribers DO NOT take the xsell.
So, you're trying to tell me that the 1/3 or 1/4 of people that take the xsell are 'misled' or 'scammed' somehow, and yet the other 2/3 or 3/4 people who successfully uncheck the xsell managed to figure it out? Explain that, please.
Arguing that prechecks are misleading or a scam is like saying the waitress who says "and those fries are with gravy?" or "and you want jalapenos on your nachos?" is ripping you off for trying to upsell you at the moment of purchase.

no your analogy is useless - the correct analogy is the waitress bringing you a plate of nachos with jalapenos when you ordered them without and informing you that unless you remove the jalapenos yourself that you will be billed extra.
I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!

Incorrect - in that example the transaction (the delivery of food) takes place BEFORE the ability to opt-out. In a pre-check xsell, the transaction does not take place until the surfer hits "submit" and the credit card is processed. The act of doing nothing is still an act as demonstrated by the people who successfully uncheck the xsell.
Who cares what it is like, what it is not like. It is business. Without prechecked cross sells most of the webmasters would be working at wendys and dealing with 20$ payouts.
Then again most companies doing revshare without trials never even come close to 100 Visa Chargebacks a month on their primary processor simly due to lack of size. So they don't have to worry about CBs in the first place

nothing wrong with 20 dollar payouts.
you don't know you're wearing a leash if you sit by the peg all day..
Hey bonehead, try revshare. If your sponsor actually has **GASP** fresh content and a sane members area, you WILL make more money in the long term.
Amen... btw if anyone would like to take a look inside our members area before you decide to promote us, hit me up You'll get a better idea of what your surfers will be worth. It'll be alot more than $40 too...
A cross is when you go to the store, and as your checking out they ask you if you want to also purchase a pack of gum.
A prechecked cross sell is when you when you make a purchase at the store, and they through a pack of gum into your bag and force you to take out it.
It's misleading. You damn well know they aren't reading everything; They are looking for the "submit" button and nothing else.
Richard I find it funny now that Adult.com switches to a merchant account which you have to be extra careful so no cross sells allowed you are suddenly a big advocate against cross sells.
But for the last 5 years the company you worked for had no problems with them.
Some people should just be quite in certain situations, not try to make themselves look good always.

Amen brother.
Love these programs that can't afford to pay per signup, so they put like 10 scenes of content in their sites and give people 50% partnership
No risks to them, surfer doesn't convert, oh well. They only pay the webmaster when THEY MAKE MONEY.
I'm on the fence a bit with this one, but I can tell you this, I'd be for pre-checked cross sells IF there was an option to uncheck all, like your email inbox, yanno?

this may help..
paycom emails the member and lets them know that they have joined ALL three sites.. the member can cancel all three with one call or one email..
oh and a kicker.. if the email they provide bounces or does not work.. the member is automatically cancelled...
if the member contacts paycom afterwards. the joins are credited back.. no problem.. if the member contacts their credit card.. the charges are also chargedback.. without any affidavit work.. b/c it was already logged as a high risk transaction... NOW with that said.. we must now work to try to keep that member a member of our site. .vs cancelling ours to stay a member of the other two sites.. .

That does help. I've joined sites long before choosing this industry to earn a living in, so I can see both sides of the arguement, and it's just one of those issues that isn't black and white, so you just have to decide what is right for you. If you can't sleep at night over pre-checked cross sells, then don't use sponsors who do that. I do think that someone taking the time to do the sleuthing to determine which sponsors do or don't is helpful to other affiliates who feel similarly. However, for me, personally, I don't think it's enough for me to reject a sponsor in most cases.
If it's FULLY DISCLOSED it's not sneaky or underhanded in any way.
Then why have them pre-checked? We all know they're pre-checked in hopes of catching the guys who don't read everything and hit submit and milking em for some extra cash. If you're going to argue otherwise, you're only lying to yourself.

your reason is in their bank accounts.
