I am sorry to hear about your kitty. I lost my Bengal (1/2 Asian Leopard, 1/2 domestic) to congestive heart failure less than 90 minutes before he was scheduled to see a heart surgeon. It was very frustrating - I screamed at the vet to resuscitate him, but there was nothing they could do. He was only five, and it came on without warning and I lost him in less than 72 hours.

I had gotten a shelter kitty to keep him company; now she has no company. She used to be really outgoing with other animals, but now that her "brother" is gone, she wants nothing to do with them. I am not sure if it would be wise to get another cat at this point.

I have a horse, and they have very delicate digestive systems - death can strike at any time - so colic (aka, "tummy ache") is a constant fear in the back of my mind. Luckily, he's a very healthy boy and no unscheduled vet trips so far.

I like the idea of getting two kitties, so they can grow up together.
