.mobi registrations start soon

.Mobi launches in May 2006 with a two-phased Sunrise Registration Period:

* Limited Industry Sunrise from May 22 through May 29, 2006.
* Trademark Sunrise from June 12 through August 21, 2006.

During the Limited Industry Sunrise the mobile industry will have an opportunity to register their trademark names as .Mobi domain names. The mobile industry will be defined by mTLD (the .MOBI Registry Operator) and will consist of companies that are members of the following mobile industry organizations: CTIA, GSMA, MMMA and MEF. We will start taking applications May 10th. The applications will then be queued in our database until mTLD begins accepting applications on May 22.

During Trademark Sunrise, all other trademark holders can register their trademark as .Mobi domain names. For both Sunrise phases, trademark holders will be required to provide the following information when requesting their .Mobi domain name:

* Trademark name (must be three or more ASCII characters)
* Trademark identification number
* Date of Trademark application (this date must be before July 11th 2005)
* Date of granting of trademark
* Country of trademark registration

Domain names can be composed of ASCII characters identical to the textual or word elements of the mark only. Full details are available in the Sunrise FAQ.

Sunrise registrations are only accepted for a minimum term of two years up to a maximum of ten.

mTLD will process requests for Sunrise using a first-come, first-served basis.

.Mobi General Registrations
Beginning on August 28, 2006. .Mobi registration is open to everyone. General Registration begins with a short, two-week registration period known as Landrush when desirable .Mobi domain names may be registered at GoDaddy.com?s premium pricing.
