    A comedy genius has passed away. Sucks he was one of my favorites

                                              R.I.P. George, I'm gonna miss ya !!

                                              I've always thought he was a brilliant comedian. He did have a few dry years in his career, but the last couple of years, it started to come back to him.

                                              I'm just fortunate that I got to see his show a couple of years ago before he passed.

                                                              Shit. I loved George Carlin. I've been a fan of his since I used to sneak his tapes out of my parents car and listen to them in my walkman when I was just a kid. As I got older I realized that not only was he a brilliant comedian but he also was politically active for much of his life and worked to keep the right-wingers in line.

                                                              I think I will spend tonight listening to his old stand-up CDs.

                                                                                                              kinda stuns me - i don't think of him as old, grew up listening to his records that my best friend's older brother had - we'd be like 7 years old and lie on the bed and listen and laugh our asses off to Richard Pryor and George Carlin even if we didn't understand everything.

                                                                                                                          I consider George Carlin one of the greatest comedians of all time.

                                                                                                                          Observational comedy was his forte, and for that I put him in the same league and short list as Mark Twain, Will Rogers, and Lenny Bruce.

                                                                                                                          I bought my first George Carlin album in the early 70's, and my friends and I would laugh for hours at his irreverent but insightful monologues and rants. I always loved turning people onto George Carlin for the first time.

                                                                                                                          He was a great writer too. I loved reading George Carlin's books. Generally I would be on a flight to somewhere, when I would pick up one of his books at the airport bookstand, and I would bust out in gut-splitting laughs on the plane, causing those around me to glance at me with disdain - that is until I would read a passage out aloud to them, and soon our entire section was erupting in laughter in unison.

                                                                                                                          I will miss his sweet curmodgeonly style - George Carlin could be absolutely caustic in ripping down the shrines of propriety, but he always had a glint in his eye - that of a person who in reality had a great deal of love and compassion inside his heart.

                                                                                                                          I will sincerely miss him...



                                                                                                                          RIP George Carlin, and thank you for the many laughs and sharp observations that you provided me with over several decades...

I saw him go from his car to the house, but that was as close as I've ever came to seeing him... not sure how I never ended up seeing one of his shows Live. Now I'll never have the chance. RIP GC
