    NATS affiliates ( strange stat ? )

I have noticed something curious, i thought i would check and see if anyone else notices it..

It seems with nats sponsors that count first page uniques my numbers are very strange..

    example..

    Date -----Raw------- Unq

    05/11/2006 1131 218
    05/12/2006 697 251
    05/13/2006 891 287
    05/14/2006 571 235

notice on the 11'th my raw's are almost twice as much as on the 14'th but less uniques..

The traffic is pretty stable , so im not sure why the numbers are so different from day 2 day , i can understand a little variation but that seems odd

Maybe a hot gallery and someone shared the URL with friends or any number of reasons. I don't think just 200 some uniques makes the numbers statistically significant. Was this a single banner, text link, gallery with links or what?

    Did you change anything?

I notice for example the ratio of raws to uniques can grow depending on the link. Take DatingGold for example. If you use their link that lands on a page of multiple date opportunities, the chances are high the surfer is gonna check out more than one. That drives up the number of raws compared to uniques and our hope is that something will catch the surfer's eye and lead to a conversion.

yeah .. we had that problem and nats is working on it. when they did the upgrade to V3 the raws got jacked up ... the Uniques are correct.

I bet the program your looking at just upgraded..

I get the same thing on some nats sites, heres my example

“Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants. We know more about war than we know about peace, more about killing than we know about living. If we continue to develop our technology without wisdom or prudence, our servant may prove to be our executioner.” ― Omar Bradley (1948)

no i just posted the one week as an example , this happens across all nats sponsor who count first page unique's ( i.e. last weeks stats look the exact same )

so on the 12'th i had more uniques but my raw dropped by almost 1/3 , thats seems too much variation .. my non nats sponsors dont show any such variations

p.s. for the first stats i posted it was purely banner click , so there shouldnt be any variations like that i can think of ( i.e. i only have one banner for that sponsor , no links no fhg's nothing.. just the one banner )

it seems to match up across nats sponsors.. like on the 11'th seemed to be a high raw count across the board on my nats sponsors , but normal uniques , the 14'th seemed to be a low raw count across all sponsors.. but normal uniques

I don't think your a hater. Nothing is perfect not even NATs, but they are always improving. I'm sure their working on it now.

i hope so. It just seems awfully strange that it happens on one day and not on others, most computer errors dont happen on particular DOTW's without something inside altering the stats for a reason..

OK, but the question comming from you and the other data posted, it kinda shakes the confidence a bit in stats reported. Decisions are placed on stats reported......

                                    Thanks for the info!

My question is ... do you really care about the raws?

Usually with webmasters we get complaints about ratios looking funk b/c all NATS programs do track raw. We have to reinforce the fact that they track CLICKS.

Not being an ass ... and I can see why you would just be curious as to why it's off, but do you really care that much? Your uniques are all in the same ballpark. And are your joins off? Probably not ...

We have integrated site clicks and link clicks to better help the webmasters and their stats because of reasons like this.
                                          Vacares rules.

                                            HEADLINE THIS JUST IN!

Its not Raws that Matter its UNIQUES!

So if RAWS do not make sense with a program at least you can count on your Uniques to still be accurate!
                                            But lets see here...
Now we do not know really what the conversion ratio truly is!
                                            Why Uniques have a ratio!
Why RAW do as well to a degree.

So lets fuck up the raw reading and the unique reading and put the sign up Ratio at a constant!!! Brilliant!
So long as the check is the same whats the difference of what the sign up trending is really?

Who would give a fuck about that little detail!

It's just hilarious that back in the day or rather not so long ago, webmasters made a hoopla about Uniques being off balance and yet the sign up ratio's nearly the same coupled with incredible signups the first few days with a sponsor, then magically the ratio's tapper off to the point where the affilaite sends an email to the sponsor program. Low and behold Sign-ups go up!

Why ghee it must have been that new traffic source or somthing right???

                                            LOL!

                                            Fuckin idiots.

We have integrated site clicks and link clicks to better help the webmasters and their stats because of reasons like this.
well i could give many explanation and diagrams and such to explain better but instead i will just say this..

                                              YES i care about raw's

Dont get me wrong i understand your point, but it makes it hard to evaluate traffic if i cant see if changes i do impact raw's
