we have had some success with the live auctions and sedo auctions. imho all of the automated domain estimators are worthless. they may help as a tool with regards to popularity/links etc., but domains are worth what you can sell them for.

Good point. I just don't want to get rid of a name for less than $1,000 if its got potential.

Exactly. This should be the first lesson to someone getting into domaining .. I hate to see people using those tools and referring to them during buying/selling of a domain name.
