Yes, it's fast but I think one reason of it is simplified image rendering engine. Here is an example:

Open this URL in 2 browsers: IE7 and FF3 and compare the picture of a girl (the one holding her boobs in palms). You will see that in FF3 the image is blurred comparing to the IE7.
I love FF, but I don't like the way they used to speedup page rendering
