I think you need to do a bit more research on the topic. Sites as big as yahoo have been successfully ddos'd. You on the other hand want to live in a perfect world where your $150/month dedicated server can fight off forest fires all on its own.
Looks to me like OC3 has offered you up some fixes to your problem that you have not said anything about in this thread. If one of my boxes starts having problems... I don't expect a free upgrade.
