Stan Winston was a creative and talented person.
I remember first noticing his extraordinary work way back when he did the make-up for Cicely Tyson in "The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman".
Years ago I saw a documentary about Winston on PBS, and was very impressed with the wide range of work that he had engaged in during his lifetime.

I never had a chance to work for him, but almost every one of my boss' did.
Lazz once told us he and Stan went to lunch with the crew, as Stan often did back then. While at lunch he asked a guy named Anton what kind of cake he liked and Anton said Chocolate, and asked Stan why he wanted to know that.
Stan said, "I just wanted to get you the right flavor of cake on your last day here."
When the waitress came back he ordered chocolate cake for everyone and told Anton it was his last day.
LOL!!!
I like mean muther fuckas.
Anton later shot his head off in a hospital parking lot on Easter Sunday.
(not because of the cake incident)
