It said about 3 times in the article that it had nothing to do with fuel consumption.

Having owned a 94 then a 96 I would have to say the total inability of their dealer network to adequately provide service was a major reason.

My closest dealer was 200 plus miles from home.

The 96 went thru 3 fuel pumps in 30,000 miles. Each failure was in the middle of nowhere and a days long event.

Tire mounting, balancing, installation of inner-liners once took three days and included flying in a factory rep from Indiana. I sat in a hotel and spent $$$ at near-by tit bar.

In-board front disc brakes and front end parts were expensive, needed replaced every 12,000 miles, and of course were never in stock.

For more than a year it remained parked at various airports out west. I would fly out drive for a week, fly home. It was a great performing vehicle in deep snow, sand, hills. But high performance = high repair. Dealers were in over their heads.

Some of Hummers "premier" dealers I used were Cadillac, Buick and Pontiac. Not a fucken truck mechanic in the building!

I used the truck as intended, loved it, miss it to this day. But glad I got rid of it!

Most Hummer dealers took the line on to increase their showroom traffic. No commitment on the parts and labor side.

The only exception was in Nashville, their dealer was a 24/7 Caterpillar and Mac truck dealer. A huge well run dealership where I was teased for having such a small inexpensive vehicle. Service there was perfect.

Someone like me, Mine was a third vehicle. I didn't take it to the mall. It had black steel wheels, no chrome. I never washed it. I enjoyed driving it in severe weather and off-road.

Now the sports cars I have owned are a different story. I guess I do have a small dick ... never once have I run them at sustained high speeds, never once did I run the piss out of them on a track. I do keep them washed and waxed looking sharp for the girls ............. hmm ........... ?

Honestly, the H1 was/is a great off-road vehicle. Unfortunately, I saw this coming for a looooong time. The H1 started (in the 90's) around the same price as a Viper which was around $60k-$70k. Now, for basically the exact same vehicle, the base price has skyrocketed to well over $110k; which is completely rediculous. I would love to have one to use off-road, but it is absolutely absurd for anyone to pay those kind of prices for a new one; so I can see why their sales have dropped.
                                                .
                                                .
                                                .
                                                .

                                                I have a sig

The H2 is more a nice SUV, i dont drive any off-road routes.

I paid $72,000 sold it 35,000 miles later for $51,000 ..... Suddenly they jumped to a base of $110,000. With no model changes!
