Message for ePassporte Account Holders

Can the messages into the messaging system be forwarded to my external emails ? Because that is one way where I know when I've received payment.

Also, if I misplaced my epass password and request for a Reset, would that go to the messaging system or my external email ?

Well, I changed my password, logged out, then tried to login and said not valid

Tried again with the password that I was assigned (before I changed it) and that pass still works.

This is where it gets funny. Just for kicks I tried using the new pass I made up for the old email, and it worked. I have a feeling I should get my money out while I can.

Keyser, Thanks. Do you mean that any notification send to my message center, I will still receive them via forward to my external email ? That is good news.

Cant you all at least transfer the ONE e-mail that has all of the virtual card details into the new system, or just show the CVV2 on the account page? After all, there is no record of that information anywhere else, right? So if you dont hang onto this e-mail your virtual card is forever fucked?

I dont have a bunch of financial information in the e-mail box so thats not a huge problem for me but I am sure the affiliates and others who send massive amounts of ePass around would really like to kill someone right about now.

Why does this too have to be such a clusterfuck? There are so many problems with ePassporte, so many things that need to be fixed. Of all the things that need to be fixed, you all pick the one that no one complains about and that no one has a problem with?

I found that if you go to Account and login/password and change your password there, it seems to only effect the old email system. Might try that

This is what pisses me off - have you looked at your account or read the rest of this thread - THEY HAVE PUT THE FIRST EMAIL WITH THE CCV2 IN THE MESSAGE SYSTEM - its the first message in there and its locked.

For fuck sake you are meant to be webmasters and you cant work out how to use a basic site. I saw someone post that they forwarded the emails to thieir email and they just came back to Epass - they sent them to thier fucking epass email!!

I would like to know this too. The last transaction I made, wich is the 1st one that appeared in this new message center, was also forwarded to my external email address. But that might have happened because I received that message in the old email system too.

I have 2 accounts of my own - and I 'look after' 3 others because the owners are not computer literate.

I apologize for jumping down peoples throats if I am wrong - but i think this whole move was to protect us from assholes that are out to screw us out of money. They are a service - why would they want to piss us off - and thats the impression I get, that some people think they are out to get us.

Well, I've checked the old email system and there last few transactions made appeared both in the old and new messaging system so the forward could have come from the old one and not the new.

I did send Support one ticket against about that but have not received a reply for almost a week now. This is sad.

I refuse to use a program designed to transfer viruses, so Outlook has never been installed on any machine of mine.

Oh, I agree. Its not on my box either, used to have to use it at work. Well, as the other guy mentioned, they are text files (didnt know that until I went and found one and opened it in Notepad). You can assoicate the .eml extension with Notepad and use that or just put them on a linux server and use vi or pico.

A few will always react that way when anyone changes anything. But as you point out, EP is a service and it just happens to be one which since its inception has been a pain in the ass to deal with, whenever even minor things go wrong. Hence the cynical reaction from more people than usual.

That's something which EP could have anticipated and if it bothered them, taken more care than usual. I doubt anyone disputes their motivation for making the changes, but for them to be as painless as possible, how hard would it have been to leave the current mail archives in place? Very simple. So why not make that concession for those who would appreciate it.

The point about the omission is that it is symptomatic, rather like those companies which keep you waiting 10 minutes while telling you how important your call is, of a service company which perceives customers as a necessary nuisance, rather than one which examines everything it does with a view to their satisfaction.

I definitely cannot receive my forward email....I checked all spam filters I have on my mail, and there was nothing which came from epass......very interesting...hmmm

I dont understand what your saying . im just saying it should be easy to access .. it hasnt been.. regardless of the means or method , its not easy , it should be.. thats all.

If the cvv2 number is going to be in the account anyways why make it hard to find, if someone "hacked" into my epassporte card , they would most likely just check my email for the cvv2 right ?

So why not just simplify it for the customers. by displaying the cvv2 right next to the visa number

ill explain how a normal person prob uses epassporte online

they log into their account , copy their visa number and cvv2 and go order something..

currently this requires STep#1 log in Step # 2 account info Step #3 go to email # step #4 check email Step#5 copy number step 6 go back to account area to get visa number etc

heres how it should be

Step#1 login , account number , balance , cvv2 and most recent transaction should be displayed.. no more steps required..

I dont need an email or a message center etc , if you need to inform me of something just make a "account alerts" box on the very first page.. that should only be used by you ..

No, Smokey. That?s logical. You keep forgetting that ePassporte cannot be logical. If ePassporte were to do something logical, it wouldn?t be ePassporte anymore.

We are conditioned to accept that security is something that inconveniences us but we must accept it. This is no exception. ePassporte has come up with some great idea of theirs (just like eBay did with their stupid message center, although even they didn?t manage to make this bad of a mess with it) and so they say "Yeah, we'll tell them its for their security. No one will dare question that and anyone that does, why we can just write them off as unpatriotic, a conspiracy theorist or a moron. Everyone wants to be secure online, and they'll do anything we tell them if we lead them to believe they'll be more secure." EPassporte seems to have taken a play right out of The George W. Bush Screws America playbook, as this is exactly his SOP.

There are alot of people online who are scared shitless of the big, bad credit card and identity thieves because the media whips up this hysteria about them (while, of course, putting a few "special messages from the sponsor" in here and there) and people are clamoring for even a false sense of security. Most people don?t take responsibility for any aspect of their lives and how they safeguard their financial information is no exception. Most people don?t understand that if they get ripped off, 98% of the time its their fault. If people just did some common sense things to safeguard their information, these crooks would be out of business. That includes not giving out your social security number to everyone who asks for it.

Never mind the fact that we are not any more secure after we jump through the hoops than we were before. eBay thought their little message center was going to solve everything. It didn?t. PayPal accounts are still getting hijacked and people are still getting fucked over, usually because of something they did to themselves. What has happened is everyone's life has gotten more difficult and everyone had to change the way they did things to work around the limitations of the new system. This is also no exception, admittedly on a smaller scale than eBay.

So we look at this little message system. What are we gaining? A lot of headaches and a little false sense of security. Some of us cant get into the old e-mail system now, so that means if we wanted to use our virtual cards unless we recorded the information outside of the system, we're fucked until access is restored. If we don?t get back in before they shut off the old system completely, then what? Well, ePass is ignoring that question right now.

As has been pointed out, if someone roots out your account and wants your virtual card number, they are going to go to your message center to get it. Putting it there offers it no greater protection. The only thing it does is inconvenience a legitimate customer who wants to use his account to make a purchase.

Even if we do get back in, its still a pain because some people have alot of info in there that they have to fuck with. And all of this for what? I challenge anyone to prove how this messaging system will prevent any fraud that an ordinary account holder couldn?t have prevented on their own with the tools already available to them.

I love epass, but since the paycom split the level of CS and professionalism has suffered .... and its a shame too! I had big hopes for epass to make it into the big leagues as a preypal alternative ...

as far as I noticed, NO!

We are working to see if we can find solution to both forward a message when a transfer is received and a solution to export the emails.
I don't know what the solutions will be so I can't say more about it, but I will post the information as soon as I know it.

Well, I wouldn't mind if it is like what the PM alert goes in the message boards, something to say that there is a post or a reply in the messaging center would be great. I could just log in and get the finer details.

Incidentally, I think it be nice if I could be able to filter monthly statements of the transactions from all the transactions from the beginning.
