    who knows about memory????

on 1 of my PCs i have only 512 MB RAM and i can max it up to 4 GB.

    - will I notice a big difference if i max it to 4GB or should I just go to 2GB?

    - what is the best memory i can get? manufacturer and specs....

btw, i do alot of work on this PC and am looking for instant speed

      Go for the max then...

I don't really pay attention to brand, as much as speed... Get the highest speed you can stable.

You should consult your manual or manufacturer product specs online to see the type you need. Usually from 512 to 1gig is a nice improvement. Not sure if going to 2gig is going to help you much more. If you run several huge applications that swap to disk when memory is full, then probably.

Going to 1gig helped me with photoshop and imageready when designing large tours and such, I can tell you that much.

Once you know what you need, newegg.com is a good place to buy from. They ship fast and are priced low and have reviews online for products from purchasers.

I like Corsair or Crucial ram. Make sure you have ram that is the same speed etc.

In regard to how much memory you need, depends on how many apps you run at once and how memory intensive they are.

But yes, the more ram you have the less your machine has to use the hard-drive for virtual memory, thus faster access (i think, that's how it goes) *shrug*

Additional RAM won't necessarily "speed up" your computer in general. It will allow you to run more applications simultaneously without performance loss in some cases.

Kingston Memory is good. Not only the amount of memory matters also the
bus speed is important. Check your mainboard manual not every brand of
memory could be fully compatible with some brands you might run into issues
that it will only see 2Gb instead of 4Gb another decent cheap brand is Apacer
