wow, almost this exact thing happened to me a bunch of years ago, I couldn't get past it and avoided seeing her again after she told me, now thinking back I kind of wish I hadn't been so paranoid, she was a really cool girl and the fact that she told me so soon upfront was a testament to her honesty, but I was young and couldn't get past it, so I blew her off...... apparently it is only contagious when flare ups but I don't really know enough about it to say for sure
