What would happen if the USA just said fuck it, we're not gonna pay these debts. Consider us bankrupt.

Is this an option? I mean China could turn around and have a trade boycott with the USA, but that hurts China even more than it hurts America I think.

I'm not suggesting this could or should happen, just thinking what if

Also I wonder what the national debts are of other countries.. I'm sure there's lots of countries that owe the USA money too. Can't they just cancel some of this out, or is it strategy to have so much debt in a way?
