$12 Million Payoff...Universal Records Settles Scandal

    http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/05/11/D8HHNBA00.html

So they bribe people to play their artist's music and all they get is to pay $12 million to get out of dodge?

What about all those artists whose songs didn't get played? Who ended up maybe broke because they didn't get a fair shot on the airwaves?

They call pornmeistering a dirty business but I ain't read about any of you having to fork out that much for fucking up people's lives.

Oh yeah, for sure..no doubt about that. Yet it sets a standard of promoting substandard artists and there are musicians out there that kick ass and don't get airplay. What's that say to kids when schools push that fair play and honesty stuff?

It tells em' no matter how good they are at what they do and no matter how upstanding they are it's no use as the standard is one of bribery and intimidation?

Maybe we ought to have Mafia Camp or something where kids can go and get the real skills they need to make it in this world.

          Correct.

Back in college I interned for Polygram in Detroit. Payola's always been around, and will continue to be I am sure. Especially with monoliths like Cummulus, Clear Channel, and alike.
