Ahhh man that sucks, I hate to say it but you're now in the "flagged list" which means everytime you try to cross the border into Canada again you will be detained and questioned because you were denied.
I was denied once about 5 years ago over a totally bullshit reason that they thought I was going down to the USA to work (I wasn't, I was going to visit my Dad who has a green card). I have no criminal record or anything like that.
Anyways long story short everytime I enter the USA I encounter problems and have to go speak to a customs official about why I was denied.

If you have porn on that notebook, you can pretty much kiss it goodbye. Good buddy of mine had the same thing happen and they eventually sent him a letter that said it was being kept as an "illegal import" and basically "fuck you".
As for all these idiots in here saying you wouldn't let them take this, or see that, or any of this nonsense. You'd all cry like little girls and do exactly what you're told. You have no rights at the boarder. No rights even to call a lawyer. So good luck with the cowboy shit..Comment

Back on topic, the customs will do what they call a " determination" which is basically deciding if the content on the hard drive is obscene ( Canada Customs standards include as obscene, among other things, anal sex ... and undue exploitation of sexual behavior.).
Once the decision is rendered, you have the right to appeal ( don't loose your time, unless you are a Don Quichotte ) or to surrender the offending media.
I would say, in this case, that that media is solely the hard drive ... If you play your cards right, they could just erase the drive ( format:c ). Otherwise, you could point out that they can take out the hard drive, giving you back the unit...
Don't try to bully them ... play the poor innocent idiot that didn't know and will not do it again....
