FYI: The term X comes form X-Censored. This is an early term that meant it was harder than R but not released to a theatre. Theatre releases harder than R were NC-17.
It used to be that R was violence and implied sex. Now, R includes titties and ass but no pubes. X is applied to late night cable TV and Public access. XXX is a manufactured term adopted by porno and really started as a marketing term. XXX Probably can be attributed to Braun or Goldstein.
