                                          It seems to be some unwritten law that a person is given an embarrasing middle name like "Hussein" or John McCain's middle name of "Sidney".

                                                                                                  Jimmy Carter enlarged the nanny state? He deregulated the airline, trucking, rail, oil, communications, and financial industries. He reduced the number of employees and departments inside the federal government. He vetoed tons of bills because he felt the budget should be balanced and their was too much pork in them (which his party fought him on). Carter may have been a shitty President, but he hardly was for the expansion of government.

                                                                                                                              People should focus on his policies, and the type of people backing him and surrounding him because those are always the best way to measure a person's judgment and character.

                                                                                                                              Same goes for McCain. Too many people are deciding their vote based on who is old, who is black, who is white, who talks pretty etc... whereas the important issues are being ignored.
