          debian sarge for highly stable, debian etch for a bit more bleeding edge. I've NEVER had problems running it, upgrading packages or anything.

                      FreeBSD, always had more success getting a FreeBSD system to handle high amounts of load. I've been running Linux as a desktop for 8 years however.
