Symantic Ghost v10 not only does is perfect backups it can also create images of your complete hdd. In case something bad happens you can just restore the
image and your computer is exactly the way it was when you created the image.
That means you don't have to reinstall software etc, etc.Comment

Works for me, I've had to restore a couple of times when my RAID array thought it had died due to dodgy SATA connectors. It's not installed by default with XP Home but you can manually install it from the CD. I do a full backup once per week and an incremental backup (only backs up files that have changed since last full backup) every couple of days, or when I've just done something important like copy a CF card full of images.Originally posted by DickShokeComment

I need to go buy an external hdd.. My copy of Windows corrupted itself a while back, fortunately I was able to retrieve most of my data from that hdd when I installed a new one.
Currently I sync my info from desktop to my laptop, as a better-than-nothing precauction.
Next step would be making dvd backups and putting them in a fireproof safe.Comment

I back it up to my external and also another computer. Once you have done 1 backup, you can schedule it to check what files have been updated since the previous backup and it will only backup the files that have been changed. Great software!Comment
