Correction: January 15, 2008
A front-page article on Dec. 20 about numerous “present” votes by Barack Obama in the Illinois State Senate misstated the status of a bill to prohibit sex-related shops from opening near schools or places of worship. The bill did not get the required three-fifths majority, so it did not in fact pass. (Mr. Obama voted “present” on the measure.)
