A few weeks ago we had one of the leading guys in from the Rutherford Centre, and when the conversation swung off on a tangent (we were all a bit star struck as he was telling us how many billions of euros and dollars he had personally blown to smithereens in failed launches) the topic of global warming came up.
He laughed and said "All the people who think we're causing global warming are the people who have never walked through these doors [we're in the universities astrophysics dpt.]. The earths been hot, its going to get hot again, and this will carry on getting hot then cold for as long as our sun continues to have its solar cycles, 2 of which happen to be coinciding right now. So go out, each buy 2 cars and burn as much oil as you can while you've still got it."
