                                                  Showing life will be difficult and just a theory yet still. All samples will be burnt in one of the five (if I recall) on board heaters. It could show carbons and stuff which could indicate life but no 100% definitive answers.

                                                                                              If it turns out to be water, this will breathe a much needed new life into NASA. Future mission possibilities become interesting again, and are endless if it means we can send humans there. It really is the best thing to happen to NASA since landing on the moon.

Specially when you got the Hawking/Preskill bet that Hawkings conceded on in regards to the black hole information paradox. Hawking always said black holes emit radiation. Issue at hand was if there was still information in the emissions or not. Hawking bet that a black hole emits radiation and it slowly looses its mass until it is gone. Preskill felt that the black hole still emitted information. Turns out Hawking conceded and agrees that black holes just mangle the information and the mass itself is returned to the universe.

It does not undo quantum physics and thus no more black hole information paradox.

Right next to a full on nuke battle, the most likely culprit that will be our downfall are computers. However they are rising up the list more and more. As it stands we want to be able to take the joy stick out of soldiers hands as soon as possible. Once a computer gets any real intellectual thought processes I along with many others feel we are fucked. Oh well though as it will happen.

I saw the spots and had to wonder if that was it. I don't know the properties of the sand/dirt there but it seemed to me that was more likely.

                                                                                                                                                          If there is ice directly below the surface (+/-5ft) ... I dunno. I am not a scientist by any means.

                                                                                                                                                                      A few weeks ago we had one of the leading guys in from the Rutherford Centre, and when the conversation swung off on a tangent (we were all a bit star struck as he was telling us how many billions of euros and dollars he had personally blown to smithereens in failed launches) the topic of global warming came up.
