Honestly i'm not surprised she could go unnoticed for that long. I've been to Tokyo to visit friends and stay in their apartments. since many apartments there are small i know people who use that space to sleep in. they get a bunkbed type ladder and make that their bed to save space. I mean it saves space in the apartment and also removes the annoying task of having to get your bed futon out of the closet everynight and rearrange furniture to sleep. doubt it was very comfy.
