    How are they called now in the US? Were they renamed at all? Back to french fries?

      Freedom fries? Never heard of that. In the U.S. we call them "Slave fries."

              They have been renamed to the politically correct term.

              Slices of potato that are placed in hot oil and cooked until a desired crispy texture and flavour is reached.
