    America's contribution to WW2....

    What are the biggest contributions of America in WW2, the the turning points...

    Right now I am writting a paper. I need 3.

    I have D-Day (Utah and Omaha beach), the bombing of Hiroshima, what else would be important to mention? (Has to be between 1942-1945) NOT PEARLHARBOR

      Maybe the Battle of the Bulge.. allmost lost it at that point but the troops pulled through.

          midway perhaps? marking a turning point in the Pacific War (1937hahaha8211;1945). For the host of short-term and long-term consequences it spawned, it was the most important naval battle fought in the Pacific, and perhaps in all of World War II...

                  do pearl harbor. it was the turning point for us entering the war, plus somewhere inside there is a consiracey on how the gov. knew they were coming and did nothing to stop it.

                                      42 - American naval victory at Battle of Midway, in June, marks turning point in Pacific War. Mass murder of Jewish people at Auschwitz begins

                                      43 - Surrender at Stalingrad marks Germany's first major defeat. Allied victory in North Africa enables invasion of Italy to be launched. Italy surrenders, but Germany takes over the battle.

                                      44 - D Day: The Allied invasion of France. Paris is liberated in August. Guam liberated by the US Okinawa, and Iwo Jima bombed.

                                      45 - Auschwitz liberated by Soviet troops. Russians reach Berlin: Hitler commits suicide and Germany surrenders on 7 May. Truman becomes President of the US on Roosevelt's death, and Attlee replaces Churchill.

                                                  I would agree with this, if they had taken out our carriers vs. us taking out theirs... we might have lost the war in the Pacific. Pretty significant turning point.

                                                                                                                  Stalingrad was just made a bigger issue historically because of the fight of Stalin and Hitler initative of battling to the last man. Neither would give in, or retreat. So it's made a lot bigger because of that, and the pointless loss of life in a battle for the biggest ball sack.
