Enough to really piss ya off!

The neighborhood I live in is predominately (sp?) Mexican immigrants. This weekend, in Chicago, all festivals & fairs were declared closed/off due to what has been going on here. The ONLY fest that's going on in Chicago (that I know of at least) is 3 blocks away from me & I can only hear spanish music being cranked (yeah...from here!). Then...these fucks have the balls to be driving around w/ Mexican flags hanging on their cars!!! On the hood, from their antenna, etc.
You would think these people would be more pround than anyone to be in this country, for they moved here to be free and to make more money! THE...they drive around showing the world how proud they are to be Mexican during this!? I'll tell ya, I lost some respect for these people because of this!

erock, don't americans living all over the world celebrate July 4th? Just because they live aboard doesn't mean they're no longer americans.

look, I'm mexican and living in Mexico. I don't know if you read the news or not, but all the celebrations in the mexican embassies around the world were canceled to mourn the victims of the terrorist attacks. We're deeply sorry and behind you guys a 100%.

Now that doesn't mean people won't celebrate at home. I'm sure they mean no harm or offense, they're just trying to put their mind somewhere else.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I hate Mexicans. I wouldn't be in this neighborhood if I did! I'm just saying, there's a place and a time to be proud of your heritage...right now it's not that time! To me it seems like they're throwing it the faces of the people that work hard to keep this country thriving!

I was simply stating a fact that the immigrants in MY neighborhood (weather it be Mexican, Polish, whatever!) are not showing patriotism and not showing the respect America & it's REAL people deserve in this time! It has NOTHING to do w/ ANYone being Mexican...so relax people!

I'm telling you for the second time, it has nothing to do with freedom. If they're there is because our goverment has done an awful job meeting their needs. Anyone who has been to my country will notice we have two Mexicos: one with a middle and upper class who lives an american lifestyle, and the other one who has been neglected for decades and living in poverty, with no opportunities to achive a better life. I could go on an on and tell you more about it, but as I said, this is not the time not the place.

They are celebrating their good fortune - they could've been spanish!

I just got back from Mexico. I had the Fedarales pointing M-16's at my head like 3 different times for nothing! And I had to pay one off for nothing...otherwise it was jail time! I'd want to leave too!

Well, it's true! I was a tourist. Of course they THOUGHT my friends & me were buying drugs, which was NOT the case. So, I guess you have a point...kinda!

and you probably don't know.. but over 150 mexicans died in the terrorist attacks.

your country is not the only one who lost good hard working people.. families from dozens of countries are crying for their missing relatives, mexicans among them.

Amigos, definitely! Just to clear it up though, it wasn't anger towards Mexicans. Just anger towards people/immigrants that were showing no respect. BUT...I did forget that it was Mexican Independence day(or at least this weekend). Believe when I say, I have nothing against Mexicans at all! Since I live in a Mexican neighborhood, that's all I've seen. Nothing against Mexicans at all. Amigos?

Luckly you did. I wonder when everything will go back to normal. We (me and my family) were planning to spend the weekend in South Padre Island but had to postpone it. I read in the newspapers that part of the bridge collapsed after a ferry boat crashed against it. I heard people won't be able to get out of there for a week or so.

It's one tragedy after the other

Well, I'm the beautiful city of Chicago, so I have NO idea what's goin' on in Texas, but that sounds like it would be a hassle. Luckily, you postponed!
I'm supposed to go to France next month for a wedding, but if we're in a middle of a war...I don't think that will be happening.
