I was raised Roman Catholic and my parents were both very religious. I was lucky that both of them did not take everything literally and taught me that you treat others as you want to be treated, live honorably and that it is not our job to sit in judgement of someone else.

I know what you mean. My mom took everything very literally and caught me once lol. She told me I was going to go to hell and took me to church... She was always "crazy" religious. Love her to death but she'd scare the shit out of me by telling me all sin is demonic and blah blah. Took me a long time to get over that crap.
